Affiliated Engineers (AEI), a leading engineering firm specializing in complex building systems, upgraded its downtown Chicago office with a ceiling installation of Sabin BLOCK pendants. Designed by Grant Kightlinger of Pivotal Lighting Design—AEI’s in-house lighting studio—this composition integrates lit and unlit BLOCK fixtures to create a visually striking ceiling that highlights his design expertise

Diffuse fixtures provide soft, ambient illumination with a 90 CRI, while unlit fixtures add depth and texture. With an NRC rating of 0.85+, the installation reduces noise and improves comfort for meetings, collaboration, and daily work.

BLOCK can do it all. The lightweight structure is crafted entirely from recycled PET acoustic material, utilizing custom cuts and folds meticulously engineered by Sabin. This design ensures full recyclability at the product's end of life. With a production and shipping time as quick as two weeks, BLOCK, both lit and unlit, is a great choice for arrays and cloud configurations within any project constraint.
