Sabin is a manufacturer represented by agency partners. They provide direct and personal support, together with our team at the factory. We partner with these agencies to ensure you have someone to discuss your project with directly. 

Direct quoting

Sabin has a team of computational designers ready to help bring any vision to life. Our fixtures are meant to be uniquely outfitted, so we’re often directly involved alongside the agency representatives, specifiers, and designers. Tell us about your vision with the design intake form. 

Tell us what you’re thinking to get started and we will send you a quote for your unique application. Our fixtures are only the building blocks, so we need some basic information to get started. It’s helpful to have a Reflected Ceiling Plan (RCP) on hand during this process. 

We also have a build tool where you can explore design presets as a starting point or make something completely new.

We are dedicated to supporting local industries and comply with the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) where possible. Some modifications may be required in order to achieve compliance and those factory options can be requested. Certain fixture designs do not make this possible, but even in those cases, PET felts, textiles, light engines, steel frames, and other materials are meticulously sourced to ensure quality, sustainability, and humane working conditions. Sabin’s manufacturing and assembly takes place entirely in our Chicago factory with local craftsmanship. Our commitment to local partnerships underscores our mission to deliver exceptional products while fostering sustainable development and economic resilience.

Our fixtures are handmade to order and can be customized down to the thread color. Because of this flexibility, our lead times vary along with specific project perimeters on a case-by-case basis. A typical lead time sits between 8-10 weeks, but it is determined per fixture type or configuration type and is subject to change.

Engineered for high-performance, our PET felt won’t pill or shed and doesn’t require sealing. Composed a minimum of 60% recycled content, the felt contains subtle color variations and layered tones.

General Maintenance

The matte heathered texture of PET felt hides dust well, but regular maintenance will help ensure the longevity and appearance of your Sabin products. For periodic dusting and vacuuming, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment on a low suction setting to remove dust and debris. Alternatively, you can use a soft cloth to dust the surface. Extended exposure to direct sunlight may cause color to fade. Use of harsh chemicals, excessive water, and/or heat drying is not recommended and may cause damage.

Spot Cleaning

Blot the spill and avoid rubbing. For light stains, wipe the affected area gently using a damp cloth. For tougher stains, apply a small amount of mild detergent (such as an upholstery cleaner or a gentle soap) to the damp cloth and dab at the stain.

SANTIZATION

No sanitization is needed when your fixtures arrive. They may benefit from occasional sanitization if installed in high-occupancy zones or if they are reachable at eye-level. For disinfection, a diluted solution of 5 tablespoons of bleach per 1 gallon of water can be applied as a spray. Alcohol-based disinfectants are also effective and will not cause discoloration.

Color is incredibly important to us. We hand-select swatches for versatility and compatibility and offer a high level of color customization. For selections outside our collection, we engage our supplier partners to ensure the desired finish results. 

Additionally, we offer Customer’s Own Material (COM) which allows designers to incorporate their chosen textile into SABIN designs, creating personalized results. Send us a 1-yard fabric sample for approval, and we’ll guide you through the process to ensure your material integrates seamlessly. Cotton and upholstery fabrics work well, while stretch materials like linen and velvet are not suitable. Once approved, we’ll determine yardage based on your specifications and transform your fabric into a custom design, available for a variety of our pendants including CYLINDER, QUAD, TRI, and OBFORMA.

Sabin products, unless otherwise stated per individual project or product specification, carry a 5-year warranty from date of shipment for manufactured product when used in the commercial environment specified. This warranty covers the structural integrity of the product, and any manufacturing faults.

Sabin does not warrant damage as a result of moving or installing the product, or which occurs as a result of mis-use, accidental or willful damage, incorrect maintenance, or neglect of the items.

Sabin does not warrant cover of third party supplied components or materials such fabrics, leathers, lamps, control equipment, power supplies etc. as the client must refer to the warranty supplied by the supplier/ manufacturer of these components and materials.

The warranty is void if the product is modified or altered in any way by a third party.

1. All warranty claims are subject to Sabin assessment and acceptance.
2. All products must be used in accordance with what is considered intended use otherwise this warranty will be considered void.
3. Sabin shall have no liability to remedy any defect in a product or replace a product where the defect or fault is caused by
   1. the failure of the Purchaser in following specific use recommendations or guidelines; or
   2. use of the product in a manner or for a purpose for which it was not designed.
4. Sabin warrants that it uses reasonable care and skill to ensure that its products are of reasonable quality. Sabin will, at its own cost, and in its sole discretion:
   1. remedy any defect or fault in any product purchased; or
   2. replace any product in respect of which there is a defect or fault, during the warranty period.
5. Except as provided for in this warranty, and to the extent allowed by law, Sabin liability in respect of the product under the law of any State or Territory is excluded. Where liability may be limited but not excluded by any applicable State or Territory law, liability is limited to the full extent possible under that law.
6. In no event will Sabin be liable to the Purchaser for any damages, including lost profits, lost savings or any other incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use the product or any claim by any other party. All claims are limited to the repair or the replacement of the products only and do not include any labor or transportation charges. The entire risk as to the use and performance of the product is assumed by the Purchaser. The purchaser must inspect and notify Sabin within 7 days of receipt of any manufacturing defects. No manufacturing defect claim will be accepted after this time.
7. All information supplied by Sabin representatives shall be reflected in the literature or verified with Sabin directly if it deviates from the primary intended use of a specific product or the product limitations.
8. Sabin reserves the right to alter specifications, pricing and products at any time.

Our agency partners are experts in lighting controls and partner with Sabin to integrate the perfect solution. Controls are determined based on what is best for the installation, the space, and the client.  

Sabin works with Lutron Controls to provide Athena Wireless Nodes. The new Athena Wireless Node is an ultra-small, wireless, integral fixture controller. Packed with technology and endlessly versatile, this tiny device can handle communications via DALI 2 with DALI Type 8, 0-10V, Clear Connect Type X, and simplifies the set-up process with Bluetooth.
